Navdih iz / Inspired by David Shenk: The genius in all of us

From small grows big, and with lots of love even more noble. At birth, we are all the same, but through time, each of us develops and takes the path, which is unique to him/her.

“Our culture regards talent as a scarce genetic resource, a thing that one either does or does not posess.” However, the achievements of today’s society (I write from the perspective of a teacher of children with different predispositions, environments) are so diverse and rich that I can confirm Shenk‘s explanation: “Some people are training harder and smarter than before. We are better at stuff because we have figured out how to become better. Talent is not a thing, it is a process.”

Zavedati se in tega nikakor ne pozabiti, da vsaka velika stvar potrebuje veliko – dela, časa, potrpežljivosti, vztrajnost, veselja in navsezadnje ljubezni/predanosti do slednjega.

To be aware and never forget it that every great thing needs a great amount of – work, time, patience, persistence, joy, and after all love/devotion to the latter.

Failures (errors) are just like all the ups and rewards, a compulsory part of life that allows us to grow. At the same time, as a compulsory fashion accessory, we are accompanied by doubts, which take us a lot of energy and attention, but nevertheless appear with purpose. At this point, stop – tighten the brake – breathe – think – breathe – and with full power ahead. 😉

Only some of us realize their true potential, and many of us mistakenly understand the initial problems for the inborn constraints. Shenk says: “I am arguing that genetic influence itself is not pre-determined, but an ongoing dynamic process. Not even genetic clones have exactly the same potential, because genes actually depend on environmental inputs to help determine how they get expressed.”

“S PONIŽNOSTJO, UPANJEM IN IZREDNO ODLOČNOSTJO, JE VELIČINA NEKAJ, ZA KAR SI LAHKO VSAK OTROK – KATEREKOLI STAROSTI – PRIZADEVA.”

“WITH HUMILITY, WITH HOPE, AND WITH EXTRAORDINARY DETERMINATION, GREATNESS IS SOMETHING TO WHICH ANY KID – OF ANY AGE – CAN ASPIRE.”
